HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ALL!
you know, i've been here in singapore for like almost ten years but it is only this year that i actually really know about chinese new year and went on my first 'visitation'. prawny invited beth and i to her house today.
it was my first time going on a visitation or visiting a friend on chinese new year , and i was worried whether it was all right, what to wear, what to do or bring although her parents were not so traditional chinese people. so today, i get to learn!
i realised that all the mandarin oranges at home were all eaten up already. and i have to have oranges to give to her parents. so i rushed to my neighbourhood shops, hoping some shops will be open to sell me oranges.but only the 7 eleven shop was open. grabbed a box of oranges and four bottles of soft drinks and brought it to the cahsier. i felt bad, he tried to explain to me at first that it would be cheaper to buy two bottles of ice lemon tea instead of one only. i didn't get what he meant and i snapped at him. in the end, he was nice and even helped me with my heavy things. gah, it was my fault actually.
my brother was still busy eating his lunch when i asked him to accompany me. so i couldnt get him to help me carry the box of oranges and bottles of drinks i was carrying. my, i was having a hard time trying to carry all of those heavy things and an unmbrella in my other hand cause it was raining! i was wet in the rain too!
that's why i was late in meeting beth. and also because i was on my way to meet her at clementi while she waiting for me at queenstown! ah, i'm so blur today! and she and i were the complete opposite in the way we were dressed. she said she was too casual while i was too formal. so in a way, i was overdressed and she's underdressed. haha! when i left home, i was worried that i was too casual.
so we went to her house after a grabbing a quick bite. greeting her parents a happy chinese new year wasnt as awkward as i thought. they were really nice people! left soon after watching tv and eating her tidbits, including dreyers and pineapple tarts!
so that was how i spent the second day of chinese new year lah, but for tonight, i'm gonna hit the books again! study yay!
